Audiocast is a broadcasting console, not a data business. Here's exactly what that means in practice.

1. What Audiocast is

Audiocast is a broadcasting console: it records from your phone's microphone, encodes it as MP3, Ogg/Opus or Ogg/Vorbis, and streams it to an Icecast or Shoutcast server that you operate or have an account with. DM Engineering does not run any streaming server, does not sit between you and your listeners, and never receives your audio.

This policy covers the Audiocast app on iOS and Android. It doesn't cover the server you stream to — that server's own operator sets its own privacy terms.

2. What we collect

Nothing, on our servers — because there are none. Audiocast has no backend of its own. Everything the app stores lives only in the app's private storage on your device:

Server profiles — the host, port, mount point, username and password for each Icecast/Shoutcast server you add. Stored locally so you don't have to retype them; never transmitted anywhere except to that server, when you go live.
Encoder and app settings — codec, bitrate, sample rate, meter refresh rate, and similar preferences.
Recordings — if you turn on "save a local copy while streaming," the encoded audio is written to a file in the app's own storage folder. It stays on your device until you delete it or share it yourself.

There's no sign-up, no user account, and no device identifier collected for tracking. No analytics library, crash reporter, or advertising SDK is built into the app.

3. Permissions, and why

Audiocast does not request access to your contacts, photo library, location, calendar, or any other personal data category, on either platform.

4. Files you choose to play or share

When you pick an audio file to play during a broadcast, the OS's own file or document picker hands the file to Audiocast directly — the app never browses your files on its own. When you tap Share on a recording, your device's native share sheet opens; where that file then goes is entirely your choice at that moment.

5. Third parties

Audiocast's encoders — LAME (MP3), libopus, and libogg/libvorbis — are open-source libraries compiled directly into the app. They run entirely on your device and never make network requests of their own. Beyond the streaming server you configure, Audiocast does not send data to any third party — no analytics vendor, no ad network, no cloud backend.

6. Deleting your data

Delete a server profile from the Servers tab and it's gone immediately. Delete a recording from the Recordings screen the same way. Uninstalling the app removes everything Audiocast stored on your device, since none of it exists anywhere else.

7. Children's privacy

Audiocast is a broadcasting tool intended for general audiences and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children, and — per §2 — the app doesn't collect personal information from anyone at all.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Effective" date at the top will change with it. Material changes will also be reflected in the app's own store listing before your next update.
